Natural and organic
We use no synthetic products — only copper, sulphur, and plant-based preparations (herbal treatments): nettle for its revitalising properties, horsetail, willow… Most of these plants are gathered from around our vines. When preparing them, we always endeavour to preserve their redox potential, keeping them as vital as possible. Each plant has its own particular treatment.
Peasant Common Sense
After many years of biodynamic farming, I decided to ground my work in good old peasant common sense!
I have returned to the essentials and the fundamentals: pruning that helps the vine develop, numerous small tasks each with their own purpose for the health of the vines, maximum ground cover with cover crops…
My technical choices are based on my own reading of the situation, not on charts or calendars. For instance, I choose the days for hoeing beneath the rows according to soil moisture, temperature, and weather — not according to a calendar. If the stars have an influence, I need to be able to perceive it through my own senses!
Ecological
We take the entire environment of our vines and our home into account. We work to stabilise bat populations by installing bat boxes, we keep a beehive, and we continually seek to reduce our environmental footprint by rethinking all our practices — always working towards greater self-sufficiency on the farm.
Human
We firmly and proudly reject the notion of an ecological vision of nature from which mankind must be absent or must not interfere. We believe that mankind stands at the heart of nature, as an integral part of it — and must be respected every bit as much as nature itself. We are passionate advocates of human ecology. Taking good care of all the people we work alongside every day is essential to us. It is, quite simply, our daily joy.
